Displays to focus on local businesses | Springfield, OH News | www.springfieldnewssun.com

28, 2015 Heritage Center displays to focus on local businesses By Tom Stafford Staff Writer In 1914, when Carl J. Woeber put up a building at 561 Madison Ave. to make the mustard and horseradish mustard hed been concocting at the family home on Sherman Avenue, people wondered why on earth the German would build anything so far from town. It wasnt long until the plant and the neighboring home he and wife Helen shared were surrounded by a wave of residential building north of Buck Creek. What Woebers critics had failed to recognize is how quickly history can overtake us one of the reasons for the Clark County Heritage Centers exhibit on Woebers that will remain in the main lobby until months end. The Woeber exhibit kicks off a program that will feature displays of at least three historic hometown businesses a year and encourage local businesses to save and store their memorabilia so it will be properly preserved when the present suddenly becomes the past.

Braves OF Melvin Upton to miss rest of spring with injury - Yahoo Sports

Upton's foot will be placed in a short leg cast for two weeks, then in a walking boot from four to six weeks. The team said he will likely be able to resume baseball activities in early April, about the time the Braves are opening the regular season. Upton was diagnosed with sesamoiditis, which is inflammation in the bone behind the ball of the foot. The condition is a further setback to Upton, who is coming off two miserable seasons after signing a five-year, $75 million contract with the Braves. He batted .208 with 12 homers, 35 RBIs and 173 strikeouts in 2014, which was actually a slight improvement on his initial season in Atlanta (.184, nine homers, 26 RBIs). The 30-year-old Upton has gone by his nickname, B.J., throughout his big league career.

Cleveland Cavaliers Would Be Wise to Pass on Ray Allen | Bleacher Report

The Cavs have been interested in Allen since last summer, hoping to pair him with former teammate LeBron James. As general manager David Griffin told Bob Finnan of The Morning Journal in September: Until he signs, thats going to be a target for everybody. Ray is someone who fits us as a shooter. His championship pedigree fits us at a really high level. With James, Mike and LeBron here, I think hed feel comfortable with our group. At the same time, its possible hes not sure he wants to keep playing.
